7 Amazing Home Builder Videos
How can home builders use video to connect with, engage, inspire, and influence home buyers online?
Traditionally home builders have used virtual tours as the go-to solution for showcasing new homes online. But, as these seven builders are proving, with a little creativity video can be used as a powerful medium to differentiate your company and your homes online.
Here are seven amazing home builder videos and why they work.
If you’re fortunate enough to have one of the hottest reality stars on the planet living in one of your homes, then a video with a celebrity endorsement might be right for you. That’s what Clayton Homes, a company that builds manufactured homes, did with Duck Dynasty star Si Robertson. The builder created a series of #sittingwithSi videos in which the tv star talks about why he loves his Clayton Home. (See more videos.)
Perhaps the most ingenious use of home builder video comes from Utah home builder Ivory Homes. The company recently ran a “Love Matters” video contest in which homeowners were invited to create and submit their own story of why they love Ivory homes. Submissions included a whiteboard animation video, a video called “Why Nerds Love Ivory Homes,” and this spoof of popular dating site commercials. (For more information about contest guidelines see this video).
One of the most inventive uses of video comes from Idaho-based CBH Homes, a builder that has reinvented home builder marketing with their “Shiny New Awesome” videos. All of the videos communicate a fun, friendly, accessible brand that promotes the advantages of a new home in a fun and fresh way. (See all “Shiny New Awesome” videos.)
In this “Everything’s Included. Even Joy” video, Lennar ties in their core brand message of “Everything’s Included” with emotion-driven visuals and narration. We like this video because it connects with buyer emotional hot buttons including a sense of family security, home as a reflection of personal style, and environmental responsibility.
Video gives home builders an opportunity to demonstrate how one of the company’s core brand messages, like Pulte’s Life Tested®, can create tangible benefits for buyers. In this video we see buyers actively engaged in the process and learn more about how the company is using buyer feedback to improve floor plan design. (See more Life Tested® videos.)
We confess, we can’t stop watching this video. It proves that sometimes you don’t need any narration at all to tell a powerful story. Created by Pennsylvania builder S&A Homes, this video creates a day in the life of a family celebrating the Fourth of July with friends. It’s a useful way of showcasing the home that creates a stronger sense of connection for the viewer than a standard virtual tour.
There are lots of home builder testimonial videos online, but this one from Veridian Homes in Wisconsin is a stand out. It includes multiple homeowners in one video, a clear central message of the benefit of buying from Veridian Homes (building process), and show-don’t-tell-footage of the builder interacting with buyers during the construction process.
